Bb. Pilipinas 2015: The Celebrity Binibini Wynwyn Marquez

When Wynwyn screened  and qualified to be a Binibining Pilipinas 2015 candidate, no one else casted their doubts on how she will perform throughout the competition. She has been on top of her game as a TV personality and has exude the beauty of a Filipina which will try to move out of her comfort zone and go beyond by capturing one of the crowns.

How far will she go? I am sure that the Aces and Queens will keep her prepared for the tough road ahead - for now Wynwyn may be considered relaxed as she is away from the demands of overnight tapings which turned out to be pre-pageant events leading to March 15 where the 2014 ladies (Mary Jean Lastimosa, Bianca Guidotti, Yvethe Santiago, Kris Tiffany Janson and Parul Shah) crown the 2015 Bb. Pilipinas Queens

Bb. Pilipinas 2015: Deaf Beauty Queen Christine Balaguer forced to resign

Bb. # 5 and Deaf Candidate Christine Balaguer was reportedly forced to resign by Bb. Pilipinas Charities Inc. 

Christine was one of the 34 official candidates and was already participating in official pre-pageant activities.

On her Facebook page, Christine said that she was asked by BPCI to resign which made her depressed.

Christine was replaced by Faith Santos. She previously joined Miss World Philippines 2014 where she placed in the Top 13.

Let's do hope BPCI will air their official statement regarding this Balaguer replacement.

The 63rd Miss Universe Pageant was held last Sunday, January 25, 2015 (January 26 in Manila). Gabriela Isler, reigning Miss Universe 2013 crowned Paulina Vega from Colombia, the 63rd Miss Universe and the first who will wear the new Miss U crown created by DIC.

MJ All The Way: Thoughts on the Miss Universe Preliminary Competition

PHILIPPINES! 

For three years, Mary Jean Lastimosa wanted to say that since joining Bb. Pilipinas 2011, now that she won the title Miss Universe Philippines and the chance to represent the country to the Miss Universe, she intends to make it all the way to the crown. She rocked the stage in that Yamamay swimsuit (oohs - ahhss here, even girls will actually envy this kind of body, kudos to her discipline and Gold's Gym!)



The gown, made by Alfredo Barraza was indeed far from what we are accustomed to seeing with Leo Almodal, Cary Santiago et. al. but MJ executed the gown pretty well with her catwalk and confidence which has skyrocketed from the day she set foot in Doral. I'm pretty sure Madam Stella Marquez Araneta is indeed happy with the preliminary performance (although there are times that we wish that Madam we'll try the Filipino designer).

Wearable,,, not ugly... not spectacular. 

Honestly, I don't hate the color combination, Philippine National Costumes was presented the way it was presented, maybe we were expecting something more, but this is definitely an improvement from the previous year.

To sum it all up, no matter how we want it to change, we can't change what has been worn but I think MJ did stole some thunder from other early favorites - leading her to pass everybody within the preliminaries.

It's still  a battle of 34 girls after all.

After we previously blogged about Kimberle Penchon's withdrawal to make way for another business opportunity, BPCI has found a replacement for her in Maolin Yalung, another KF girl whom we had foreseen to be one of those ladies who should have been in the 34.

Maolin's entry is not late yet as this week is the start of all the pre-pageant activities for Bb. Pilipinas 2015.

It's Top 15 for the 63rd Miss Universe Pageant

The 63rd Miss Universe pageant will kick-off its preliminary competition next week, January 21 in the States and 22 here in the Philippines where they would be getting 15 ladies to move forward to the next cut (it's 15, not 20 like what is talked about previously).

Now, how do you get your Top 15 list ready? It will be hard, I know but without bias, Miss Philippines Mary Jean Lastimosa is definitely on my list. How about yours?

MJ Lastimosa blending with the Russians

Miss Universe Philippines MJ Lastimosa was recently a part of the Russian American Chamber of South Florida VIP Red Carpet Reception along with Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Lithuania. While we are not sure why she was included, this adds premium to how the worldwide audience has thought of MJ, who is considered to be one of the Asian front runners in the forthcoming Miss Universe pageant.

Bb. Pilipinas 2015: Where Third Time is a Charm

After Mary Jean Lastimosa's victory as 2014 Miss Universe Philippines after her third try, it seemed like more beauties had been interested to try their luck again in the competition. After the recent announcement of the official candidates, there are four ladies who are considered as third timers, hoping to do an MJ, try again and win the crown.

 Toni Alyessa Hipolito, Patricia Lae Ejercitado, Pia Wurtzbach and Hannah Ruth Sison made it to the official candidates this year, let's check out their side story:

TONI ALYESSA HIPOLITO 
Bb. Pilipinas 2008: Runner-up 
Bb. Pilipinas 2010: Unplaced 
Bb. Pilipinas 2015: ? 


Toni had netizens saying "Huh?" when she screened for Bb. Pilipinas 2015, only to find out that Hipolito is around 25 years old having screened for Binibini when she was 18 back in 2008. The Margie Moran dead ringer also made a big switch from Aces & Queens where she spent her first 2 years to KF.

Bb. Pilipinas 2010: Unplaced 
Bb. Pilipinas 2012: Semifinalist 
Bb. Pilipinas 2015: ? 

 Patricia Ejercitado surely got inspired of the win of her closest buds, MJ and with this being her last year to join, she hoped that she will finally make it to the winner's circle. She also jumped ship, from RL now to Kagandahang Flores.

Bb. Pilipinas 2013: 1st Runner Up
Bb. Pilipinas 2014: Semifinalist 
Bb. Pilipinas 2015: ? 


Pia was there in the winner's circle in 2013 behind the successful batch of Ara Arida, Bea Santiago, Cindy Miranda and Mutya Datul and went back last year for the hopes of the crown which failed to materialized (some netizens even blamed Senator Angara for that Filipino question she threw Pia) now Pia comes back with the hopes of doing things right and probably this time nail the crown from MJ. 

HANNAH RUTH SISON
Bb. Pilipinas 2013: Unplaced
Bb. Pilipinas 2014: 2nd Runner Up
Bb. Pilipinas 2015: ? 

Hannah spent the whole 2014 being a part of the BPCI team sending off the likes of Bianca, Yvethe, Kris and MJ and attending events as instructed by BPCI, while she ought not to talk about rejoining, Hannah seemed to have realized the potential she still has, giving up her prize & contract that comes with winning her 2nd Runner Up title for a shot at the Miss Universe Philippines crown.

Kimverlyn Suiza and Nancy Leonard: Earth beauties for Bb. Pilipinas 2015

Crossing over for beauty pageants and being successful at it is something that normally happens. For this case, Miss Philippines Earth beauties that crossed over to Bb. Pilipinas seemed to get the upperhand with the likes of Ma. Venus Raj who was Miss Philippines-Earth Eco-Tourism 2008 and later on became Miss Universe 2010 4th Runner Up or Ariella Arida who represented Alaminos in Miss Philippines Earth 2012 and later on became Miss Universe 2013 3rd Runner Up.

With this twist of fate, ladies who came from Miss Philippines Earth also choose to cross over to Bb. Pilipinas. Recent elemental queens Kimverlyn Suiza and Nancy Leonard both made it to Bb. Pilipinas 2015


Kimverlyn was originally the Miss Philippines-Air 2013 until she opted to join Bb. Pilipinas 2014 where she was unplaced, still under the camp Aces and Queens, she opts to make it to the winner's circle this time around and probably the Miss Universe Philippines crown on March 15.

Nancy who was the Miss Philippines-Water 2013 took over the reign of Kimverlyn and became Miss Philippines-Air until the coronation night of Miss Philippines-Earth 2014, she was groomed by KF and was part of the 16 ladies who made it to Bb. Pilipinas 2015.

Will this MPE beauties be successful with the 2015 edition of Bb. Pilipinas?

Kimberle Penchon no longer part of Binibini 2015

Binbining Pilipinas 2015 Casualty #1 - Kimberle Mae Penchon.

This year's Binibini # 9 opted to withdraw from the competition after she was offered by Beauche International of a business opportunity that coincided after being crowned as Miss Beauche International Philippines. The income generating opportunity caused Kim to back out from the competition but she promises she will come back next year.

Now, who to replace her to still make up the 34 ladies?

The Curious Case of Ali Forbes

When the 34 Official Candidates for the 2015 edition of Bb. Pilipinas, your blogger was surprised not to see the name of Annalie Forbes since she was already a part of the 2012 edition of Bb. Pilipinas where she was adjudged as the 2nd Runner Up (eventually 1st Runner Up after Elaine Kay Moll was given the Miss Supranational Philippines 2012 crown).

Netizens have their different take on the exclusion of Ali, some say it is the height (but nah, she was part of the 2012 edition, she can't become shorter?), some say it was because she won the pageant of Miss Grand International and represented the country abroad while the others say it was because of her stint with Pinay Beauty Queen Academy which may cause conflict of contracts since her show aired with GMA-7 and Binibining Pilipinas is broadcasted by ABS-CBN.

We don't know why but definitely we hope Ali can find a silver lining with what happened, you are a gem darling and trying out once more proved that you really wanted to represented the country to a bigger stage.

2013 Runners-up battle Bb. Pilipinas 2015

The 2015 edition of Binibining Pilipinas has officially started with 34 ladies trying to vie to succeed Mary Jean Lastimosa and three of them were runners-up to the successful ladies of 2013.

Pia Wurtzbach 

Pia came from the Bb. Pilipinas Gold edition (won by Ariella Arida) who brought out so much success in the BPCI stable, truth be told, this blog had her as the Miss Universe Philippines for 2014 but that did not occur. When she came back this year this is like that she is in it to win it.

A lot may be reminded of her Q&A which she answered in Tagalog according to Senator Angara's question but it is all in the past now, hoping that she gets to prove third time in Binibini is a charm, just like MJ. 

Kimverlyn Suiza (Miss Philippines Air 2013) 

Kim had a very meaningful reign as Miss Philippines-Air 2013 (behind Angelee Claudette Delos Reyes) until she opted out to try her luck at the 2014 edition of Bb. Pilipinas where she was unplaced (even not in the Top 15 Semifinalist to the surprise of many). I hope styling will be better this year unlike last year where she seemed to be sabotaged with the way she looked during the evening gown contest. This is her last year for the nationals and going back to the audition arena to vie for the Miss Universe Philippines crown is something Kim will go back to once again. 

Janicel Lubina (2013 Miss World Philippines 1st Princess) 

Janicel is the first runner up to Miss World 2013 Megan Young in the national competition and your blogger believes that being behind CQGQ for at least a year allowed Janicel to explore more and find what she can improve on. Pageant fans are happy to see her vie for a Binibini title. 

Pia, Kim and Janicel are 2013's runners up and has been groomed well in the field of pageantry, how will 2015 give them a chance to be closer to their dreams?

Andjelka Tomasevic: Serbia's Miss Universe bet to watch out for

I first saw Andjelka Tomasevic as a representative of Serbia to Miss Earth 2013, she was on my list to actually capture an elemental crown that time (the edition was won by Alyz Henrich) but she managed to make it to the Top 8. 

A few months later, Andjelka made it as an appointed delegate to the 63rd Edition of Miss Universe. Andjelka is friends with our dearest MJ and has talked about how the Philippines has been a home for her during the Miss Earth 2013 contest. She also plans to come back in the country soon to explore more of the magic of the Philippines.

Andjelka is on my list for the Top 5 of Miss Universe, how about you?

Third time may really be a charm for some of the Bb. Pilipinas 2015 ladies who screened for this year's edition as another third timer filed her application. Toni Alyessa Hipolito got netizens asking how old is she when they learned that Toni joined the '08 edition where she was a runner up (she got promoted after Danielle Castano became Bb. Pilipinas World in lieu of the resignation of Janina San Miguel) and in 2010. It turns out Toni is around 25 years old, having joined the 2008 edition when she was 18.

She also made a big switch from Aces and Queens to KF, will it bring her to the official candidates and also to the crown this time?

Bb. Pilipinas 2015: Runners-up back for the crown

MJ Lastimosa must have inspired a lot of former runners-up to try again for the crown.

Reportedly coming back to file their applications for Bb. Pilipinas 2015 are 2012 Bb. Pilipinas 1st Runner Up and 2013 Miss Grand International 3rd Runner Up Annalie Forbes, 2013 Bb. Pilipinas 1st Runner Up Pia Wurtzbach and 2014 Bb. Pilipinas 2nd Runner Up Hannah Ruth Sison.

Ali had a different chance after her Binibini stint and was appointed by her handler, John Dela Vega who is the franchise owner of Miss Grand Philippines as the first representative to Miss Grand International. She comes back hoping to finally gain a spot after she joined the winners circle with Janine, Nicole, Katrina and Elaine back in 2012.

Pia and Hannah are both three-timers in Bb. Pilipinas, Pia was a 1st Runner Up in 2013 and a Semifinalist in 2014 while Hannah was unplaced in 2013 and was the 2nd Runner Up in 2014 to the group that brought MJ Lastimosa to the top crown.

Now, we don't doubt them making in the official candidates, the question now is: Will they place this time?

Miss Universe 2013 3rd Runner Up Ariella Arida is Miss Universe 2014 On The Scene Host

From Shamcey, Janine and now Ara Arida takes the Spotlight as the web presenter of "On The Scene" for the 63rd Edition of Miss Universe Pageant.

Some naysayers say that this should have been Janine again or Venus because of their engaging personalities while some agree that Ariella will do well for this part of the pageant. There are also thoughts that this was a part of a business strategy of Donald Trump as since 2012, the Miss Universe Youtube Channel generated lots of views when it started having Filipinas as web presenters.

Sending off Miss Universe Philippines Mary Jean Lastimosa

Miss Universe Philippines 2014 is already on Miami as of this writing after a connecting flight from LA. She left last night via PAL Flight PR102 onboard to Los Angeles where she was sent off by MJ All The Way FB group members, family and Kagandahang Flores' Rodgil Flores and Gio Lazaro Flores.

Bb. Pilipinas 2015: Andrea Koreen Medina to crossover to BBP from Mutya?

Reports and pageant pages say that Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia Pacific International 2013 and Miss Intercontinental 2013 3rd Runner Up Andrea Koreen Medina will be crossing over from Mutya ng Pilipinas to Bb. Pilipinas 2015. 

 Well, age-wise, check! If she makes it to the BPCI official contestants, there will be a note on her performance since she is already a national beauty queen and an international winner (and for pageant fans, please note, BPCI will not make her win the Miss Intercontinental title)

2014 Pageant Finishes: A 1st Runner Up and a 2nd Runner Up

The last 2 days of 2014 brought the country a first and a second runner up finish. Last December 30, Ferina Juny Ann Carpio was adjudged as the 1st Runner Up of Miss ASEAN 2014 behind Thailand. The second Philippine representative Yhen Diaz was adjudged as Miss Social Network.

It didn't became a back-to-back-to-back but Glennifer Perido managed to secure a place in the Top 5 of the recent Miss Tourism International by securing the Miss Tourism Metropolitan award behind Venezuela who won the crown and Thailand who was adjudged as Miss Tourism Queen of the Year. 

Congratulations to Ferina and Glennifer! :)
