Will it be possible for Bianca Guidotti and Yvethe Santiago to do a back-to-back?

Winning the third Miss Universe crown and the first Miss Intercontinental crown may be daunting already but for Bianca Guidotti and Yvethe Santiago, winning the Miss International crown and Miss Supranational crown this year is two times the pressure. 

Bianca and Yvethe both talked about having the international winners giving them tips, which will be considered as a factor when both are in Japan and in Poland respectively. Bea Rose and Mutya will be there as VIP before they passed on their crowns and will definitely like the idea of passing it on to their Binibini sisters. But truth be told, it will be hard, there are a lot of gorgeous and equally intelligent candidates and the idea for now is for both delegates to enjoy their experience abroad.

When a back-to-back happens, I know these photos will be done again once more, with the 2014 international sashes for both ladies don't you think?

Mister World Philippines: John Spainhour for 2014, Sam Adjani for 2015

The casting event of Cory Quirino's Global Quest was just to announce who will banner the country for Mister World Philippines 2014 and 2015 (since it will already be an annual event). This blog is extremely happy for John Spainhour and Sam Adjani who earns the right to be Mister World Philippines for 2014 and 2015 respectively.

Making them both winners is probably what Madam Cory Quirino can best do and surely, Spainhour and Adjani can rock both editions of Mister World Philippines.

Meet this year's Mister World Philippines 2014: John Spainhour

A former US Marine was chosen by Cory Quirino, national director of Mister World and Arnold Vegafria of ALV Productions. John Spainhour, 26 was introduced as Mister World Philippines 2014 and will banner the country in English Riviera by June 14.

Sam Adjani on the other hand was introduced as Mister World Philippines 2015. Both endorsers will be backed up by the local clothing line Bench (were both are endorsers) and Ayala Malls.

Spainhour express his confidence that he can prepare well for the pageant and tries not to be pressured by the achievement of Mister World 2012 1st Runner Up Andrew Wolff.

No beauty pageants for Pia Wurtzbach, for now.

Pia Wurtzbach does not see herself fighting for another crown in the near future. In an ABS-CBN report, Wurtzbach admits she does not want to wait for the title for three years, She wants to cultivate her strengths being with Mercator (by her handler Jonas Gaffud) and Blue Water.

The 2013 1st Runner Up gave up her title to join Bb. Pilipinas 2014 to see if a crown was really meant for her as she was already on the Top 5 last year behind Ariella Arida, Bea Rose Santiago, Cindy Miranda and Mutya Datul but the former Star Magic Star has no regrets on trying again, even her Top 15 Q and A answer where she had to answer in Tagalog to which some netizens believed cause her the crown.

Only time will tell if Wurtzbach will come back next year, for now we'll see her actively as a model.

The Search is on for the very first Miss Grand Philippines 2014

John Dela Vega's Miss Grand Philippines Organization is officially calling out applicants for the first Miss Grand Philippines pageant. Open to ladies at least 18-25 years old, 5'5" height, at least a High School Graduate and not under contract, please visit the Miss Grand Philippines Organization and attend to their requirements.

Winner will be crowned by 2013 Miss Grand International 3rd Runner Up Annalie Forbes and will represent the country to the next Miss Grand International Pageant to be held in Bangkok, Thailand from September 15 to October 7, 2014.

Miss Supranational 2014 is in....

The World Beauty Asociation (WBA) S.A., based in Panama, announced officially that the 6th edition of the Miss Supranational beauty competition will take place in Krynica-Zdrój, Poland, on Friday December 5th with a live transmission via TV and internet.
Around 80 beauties from all over the globe will reunite in Poland starting on November 16th, to take part in the pre-pageant events including tours, presentations, competitions, photoshoots, interviews, among others.

Located in the south of Poland, Krynica-Zdrój is the biggest spa town in Poland often called the Pearl of Polish Spas; and a popular tourist and winter sports destination situated in the heart of the Beskids mountain range.

Philippines’ own Mutya Johanna Datul will crown her successor at the conclusion of the live telecast. Once again, the magnificent production will be in charge of Polish company Nowa Scena, which catapulted the pageant to BIG 4 status back in 2010. , ,

Sunday Thoughts: Ladies I Wanna See Again - Nancy Leonard (Miss Philippines Air 2013)

It's Sunday, I'm starting a new blog post entitled "Ladies I Wanna See Again". These are previous runners-up and elemental Miss Philippines Earth queens whom I want to see in succeeding editions of a national pageant. My first stop is Nancy Leonard who recently was Miss Philippines Air 2013 relinquishing her crown to Diane Querrer in Miss Philippines Earth 2014.

Nancy, 23 going on 24 by 2015 still has a chance of joining Bb. Pilipinas 2015. When she does, I definitely would root for her, for now I'd like to see her enjoy her blissful rest after a year's reign with Angelee, Alma, Athina and Bernadette.

What to look forward to in Mutya ng Pilipinas 2014?

Last year's winners Koreen Medina and Miss Tourism International 2013/14 Angeli Dionne Gomez banner Mutya ng Pilipinas 2014


Looks like the top crown of Mutya ng Pilipinas 2014 will be the Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism International, with the reigning Miss Tourism International queen, Angeli Dionne Gomez passing on the crown to the winner this year as Mutya ng Pilipinas lost the right to the Miss Intercontinental pageant where Koreen Medina was 3rd Runner Up (Bb. Pilipinas crowned the very first Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental with Kris Tiffany Janson) . I don't have the idea yet whether Koreen's successor will have an international representation (Koreen's title is Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia Pacific International) so if you do, please do get by at me when you have an idea.

Probably what excites me the most is who will go after Angeli, can a three-peat be possible?

Bb. Pilipinas 2014: Laura Lehmann and Hannah Ruth Sison Waiting for a Year

I've watched the Bottomline episode of the 2014 Bb. Pilipinas Queens and I can't help but put my equal admiration to this year's runners-up: Laura Victoria Lehmann and Hannah Ruth Sison. Both are equally articulate and are worthy of actually giving it one more shot at the next Bb. Pilipinas edition with a strong shot of the international crown.

I actually don't mind seeing one of them go at it next year or Lau can actually come back in 2016 but for now, the two girls would not mind standing along MJ, Bianca, Parul, Kris and Yvethe and wear their sashes proud and beam with pride that indeed, they are the best from this year's Bb. Pilipinas.

This year's bet to Miss Asia Pacific World 2014 has gotten heads turn this days: Hillarie Parungao follows Grendel Alvarado and Czarina Rosales in pursuit of the Miss Asia Pacific World crown and I feel she has the chance of exceeding a Top 15 finish. She blends in with other Latinas and reminds me of Miss Universe 2011 3rd Runner Up Shamcey Supsup.

The Grand Santacruzan the Binibini Way

Last Saturday, May 17, 2014 was the Annual Grand Santacruzan of Bb. Pilipinas Charities Inc. It was lead by the reigning queens: Bea Rose Santiago (Miss International 2013), Mutya Johanna Datul (Miss Supranational 2013),  Mary Jean Lastimosa (Miss Universe Philippines 2014), Mary Anne Bianca Guidotti (Bb. Pilipinas International), Parul Shah (Bb. Pilipinas Tourism), Yvethe Santiago (Bb. Pilipinas Supranational), Kris Tiffany Janson (Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental), Laura Lehmann (1st RU) and Hannah Ruth Sison (2nd RU) as well as Bb. Pilipinas Universe 1994 Charlene Gonzalez Muhlach. The candidates of Bb. Pilipinas 2014 graced the event as well.

Miss Manila 2014 is on!

The City Government of Manila has announced that the search is on for the next Miss Manila 2014 as a part of the Araw ng Maynila celebration on June 24.

A candidate for Miss Manila 2014 must:
1. Be a naturally born female.
2. Be a Filipino citizen.
3. Be born in the city of Manila or a resident of Manila for at least one year by the day of the pageant.
4. Be at least 18 years old and not older than 25 years old by the day of the pageant.
5. Possess good moral character.
6. Be at least 5 feet, 4 inches tall.
7. Be single.
8. Be at least a high school graduate.
9. Be proficient and articulate in both Filipino and English.
10. Have knowledge of the history, tradition, culture, demographics, business environment and other relevant information about Manila. 

Application forms may be secured at the Tourism Office of Manila City Hall or the Liga ng mga Barangay on the 4th Floor. It may also be downloaded at www.missmanila2014.ph. The requirements must be submitted to the Miss Manila 2014 Secretariat, c/o Miss Liz Villasenor at the Tourism Office.
Deadline of application forms will be on Wednesday, May 20, 2014. 
Screening will be held on May 24 at the Palacio de Maynila from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Interested parties may contact Jewel May Lobaton at 0915-6548604 for more details. 
“Miss Manila 2014” title awaits the modern Manileña who exudes grace, beauty, passion, 
intelligence and optimism. The proceeds of this year’s pageant will benefit the Dialysis Center of MARE Foundation, Inc., a  non-profit institution headed by its Chairperson, Dra. Luisa Loi Ejercito-Estrada. This year’s Pageant  Director is Ms. Jackie Ejercito-Lopez.

Miss Philippines Earth 2014: A Top 5 Finish for Bianca Paz

I had always been vocal on my favorite bet, it wasn't Jamie Herrell but it was Miss Philippines Fire Bianca Paz. I was following her from Bb. Pilipinas 2009, Bb. Pilipinas 2011 and the 2 editions of Miss World Philippines in 2011 and 2013 where she was both 3rd Princess and seen how determined she was to place in those contests. Without changing camps (As far as I can remember), She earned respect of pageant fans and is considered one of the front runners everytime she sets foot in the competition.

 When KF fielded her in for MPE 2014, Bianca knew she will be on a tough foot race with Jamie Herrell. She also had to deal with second-timers Monique Manuel and Diane Querrer as well as the ladies from A&Q, the free spirited Bianca never went down without a fight and while she may be teased as the perennial 3rd Runner Up, Bianca must had a sigh of relief that she did went home with a title.

 With age slowly going her way (She's 25), I believe we'll see Bianca finish her reign as Miss Philippines Fire 2014 with Diane, Kimberly and Monique and end her career as a beauty queen by serving the earth.

Miss Philippines Earth 2014: Diane Querrer's vindication after Bb. Pilipinas 2014

Diane Carmela Querrer may have not gotten the top plum but placing 2nd in the recent Miss Philippines Earth 2014 pageant is more than an achievement. After being booted out on the official list of Bb. Pilipinas 2014 candidates over height qualifications, The 25 year old Querrer never hesitated to jump ship from Aces to KF and eventually go to Miss Philippines Earth 2014.

What's next for Diane? With age restrictions slowly coming her way, the idea is to just finish the Miss Air reign this year with fellow elemental court winners: Kimberly (Water), Bianca (Fire) and Monique (Eco-Tourism). They can also be a support group to Jamie as the later prepares for Miss Philippines Earth. 

While there is no guarantee for an international pageant, I hope to see Diane be given a chance to compete in one - maybe even in a third-tier pageant so that she can actually show her stuff. Having been included in KF and Aces and Queens this year, she can definitely use her trainings to her advantage once given the green light to do so.

On Sunday, May 11, 2014, Angelee Claudett Delos Reyes (reigning Miss Philippines Earth) will crown her successor to represent the country in the upcoming Miss Earth 2014 pageant to be held in a place and date to be announced. Nancy Leonard, Alma Cabasal, Athina Chia and Bernadette Aguirre will crown the elemental queens at the end of the event.

Miss Philippines Earth 2014: An Unexpected Finish for Ross Misa

With the help of Rappler, I already knew immediately that Ross Misa didn't make it to the Top 10 after everyone has touted her to at least an elemental queen finish. It would be a series of what-ifs, the styling, the gown that other contestants had an edge over her. But for me, I think she has lacked the umppphh! factor she had back in Bb. Pilipinas 2010 and Miss World Philippines 2012 where she went neck and neck with eventual winner Queenie Rehman.

It is probably time for Ross to hang his high heels and swimsuits and go forward with something else, after all, having been in Mercator, there would be a lot of opportunities for her.

With the recent success of the sole Aces and Queens bet Megan Young last year, there is no doubt that A&Q wants to continue the winning tradition at the next Miss World Philippines 2014. Clearly in my mind, the following ladies on photo (credit to Sash Factor) would make a good MWP court this year. 

Valerie Weignmann is on temporary leave from hosting at Eat Bulaga, Cassandra Naidas, Pia Wurtzbach and Kimverlyn Suiza are all free from pageant obligations and Catriona Gray, I don't know if she'll take it in.

I guess we'll just have to watch it unfold right before our very eyes.

Julian Aurine Flores: Miss Progress International Philippines

Bb. Pilipinas 2014 Candidate Julian Aurine Flores may not have gotten any of the 7 placements this year but she will be leaving to represent the country to the Miss Progress International pageant to be held in Puglia, Italy.
