Bb. Pilipinas 2014: Pia Wurtzbach, the A&Q Torch Bearer for 2014?

While Kagandahang Flores may have Parul Shah and Hannah Ruth Sison as this year's flag bearers, it is no secret that A&Q is also in thick of preparations for 2014, with the hopes of keeping the Miss Universe Philippines crown in their camp and most probably it will be Pia Wurtzbach leading the way for A&Q's entrants.

It is no secret how Pia wants to enter the succeeding Bb. Pilipinas editions, while being the 1st Runner Up to ladies like Ara Arida, Bea Rose Santiago, Cindy Miranda and Mutya Datul can be considered an achievement, there is no doubt that this girl wants more than just being around during send-offs and participating in trainings, with SMA's green light, I believe that Pia will emerge as one of the candidates as she has placed on Instagram, 51 beautiful years (what else would you mean by that?)

Pageant fans have given this abuzz and I had probably written this previously. 

Diana Arevalo, 25 is reportedly gunning for her 3rd attempt for a Binibining Pilipinas crown and boy, if ever she files her application, I think she will go all out to win it.

Diana joined in 2009 where she placed in the Top 10 and in 2011 where she placed in the Top 15. This will be a wild and crazy Bb. Pilipinas season once more.

Having seen names from Pia Wurtzbach, Hannah Ruth Sison and Diana Arevalo, should Jaysel Arrozal give it one last try? 

The 23 year old beauty queen can still make it through the age limit, that is no doubt, but being a part of the BBP 2008 Semifinals and BBP 2009 is already an achievement in itself, especially having been a part of the Top 5 of Miss World Philippines in 2011.

She recently placed as 4th Runner Up in the recent Miss Resorts World Manila 2013. 

That we will have to see come the last day of filing of applications, which is tentatively set on Monday, December 30.

The second Mutya ng Pilipinas winner, Angeli Dione Gomez is currently on the thick of her contest, Miss Tourism International 2013/14, while she has been enjoying those activities with her fellow candidates, admittedly there is an extreme pressure on her to win MTI back-to-back, after her fellow Cebuana and surname-sake, reigning Miss Tourism International 12/13 Rizzini Alexis Gomez who will be with her as she crowns the new winner.

I just hope that Angeli gets to cap this 2013 with a bang.

This year has been incredible for Binibining Pilipinas, the Gold Batch lead by Ariella Arida, Bea Rose Santiago, Cindy Miranda and Mutya Johanna Datul surely left up to its name making their "mother", Madam Stella Marquez Araneta extremely proud. Ara continued the streak at the Miss Universe, making it a 4 peat, Bea won the 5th Miss International crown for the Philippines, Cindy Miranda's inclusion in the Top 10 of Miss Tourism Queen International is something to be proud of while of course, the first Asian to win Miss Supranational, Mutya made this year a fruitful golden year for BPCI.

Your blogger is excited on what's to come for Bb. Pilipinas 2014 with all the things that happened this year. Will Pia Wurtzbach file for another try? Will Parul Shah and Hannah Ruth Sison give Binibini another go? Or will their be crossovers from MPE that will give Binibini a try?

Alejandra Andreu: The MI winner who attended MI2013

Before we get to talk about our very own Bea Santiago who was crowned as Miss International 2013, we talk about Alejandra Andreu, Miss International 2008 who acted as the reigning titleholder with the controversies involving last year's winner Ikumi Yoshimatsu (MI 2012).

Alejandra did an absolutely fantastic job doing the crowning made friends with almost all the delegates and enjoyed her stay in Tokyo.

While we feel for Ikumi, it was a pleasure to see Alejandra crown the current winner and I am sure the crowning brought distinct memories with her. She had enjoyed the experience, made new friends and will come back to Spain with wonderful stories.

Miss Intercontinental 2013 Results: Russia wins, Philippines is 3rd Runner Up

Philippines placed on the Top 5 once more after the recently concluded Miss Intercontinental 2013 where our representative, Koreen Medina was 3rd Runner Up and was the Queen of Asia and Oceania after the event. 

Daniela Chilbaud, Miss Intercontinental 2012 crowned Ekaterina Plekhova of Russia as the Miss Intercontinental 2013 winner.

Medina gives the PH its second highest placement after Maria Sovietskaya Bacud in Miss Intercontinental 1995.

The Search for the Next Bb. Pilipinas Queens is on!

No crowning yet of Miss International 2013 where PH is bannered by Bea Rose Santiago but here is it, The Search is On for the next Bb. Pilipinas Queens for 2014 for this year, 4 crowns are up for grabs: Miss Universe Philippines, Bb. Pilipinas International, Bb. Pilipinas Tourism and Bb. Pilipinas Supranational.

They will start accepting applications from December 16 to December 30 which is their set deadline for applications.

Reigning queens are Ariella Arida (Miss Universe 3rd Runner Up), Bea Rose Santiago (Bb. Pilipinas International), Joanna Cindy Miranda (Miss Tourism Queen International Semifinalist) and Mutya Johanna Datul (Miss Supranational 2013).

Mutya Datul in Miss Gabon 2014

Miss Supranational 2013 Mutya Datul was in Gabon last November 30, 2013 to witness the coronation of 21-year old Maggaly Nguema, from Libreville, was crowned Miss Gabon Universe 2014 beauty will represent the country at the Miss Universe 2014 finals and 24-year old Pulcherie Nze Nzoughe was crowned Miss World Gabon 2014; Pulcherie will compete in the 2014 Miss World Finals next November in London, England.

This is one of the events the reigning Miss Supranational shall go to.

Male pageants had also been a boom one after the other, this year, the Mister International 2013 in Jakarta Indonesia saw the crowning of Jose Anmer Paredes, representing Venezuela and succeeding Mister International 2012 Ali Hammoud and defeating good looking men from all corners of the globe.

The Philippine bet, Gil Wagas was this year's 4th Runner Up.

Miss Grand International 2013 Results: Ali Forbes is 3rd Runner Up

The inaugural edition of Miss Grand International 2013 happened last November 19, 2013 at the Impact Arena in Bangkok Thailand where Janelee Chapparo of Puerto Rico was hailed as the first Miss Grand International. Her court includes: Chantel Martinez (Dominican Republic) as 1st Runner Up, 2nd Runner Up Denisa Paseciakova of Slovak Republic, 3rd Runner Up Ali Forbes of the Philippines and 4th Runner Up Kelly Louise Maguire of Australia.

Tonight is the Miss Grand International 2013 Finals Night where former Bb. Pilipinas 2012 2nd Runner Up Ali Forbes gets to represent the country to the stage. The preliminaries and activities for MGI show how much Ali has benefited from training with Janine, Nicole, Katrina and Elaine during their 2012 reign and a crown is not far from impossible.

She may also look at this as a way to get a headstart if she wants to join BBP once more (smile!).

Elian Herrera (Miss Venezuela International) and Alyz Henrich (Miss Venezuela Earth) are probably the most ready and polished beauty queens having been crowned mid-2012 for a 2013 contest. Alyz is expected to be here in Manila for Miss Earth 2013 any moment from now while Elian would go to Japan for Miss International 2013 on December 17.

The two girls mantra will have to be: If Gabriela can do it, we can too!

Pia Wurtzbach: Will she do a Janine Tugonon next year?

We've completed the 4 peat in the recent Miss Universe with Ariella Arida being 3rd Runner Up in the recent pageant, now, there's so much belief that Pia Wurtzbach, the sole Bb. Pilipinas Gold Runner-Up will eventually give up her placement this year to be able to join and possibly, win the Miss Universe Philippines crown.

What are the chances of her winning?  Probably the greatest of all chances, being under A&Q and having the chance to join Miss Universe 3rd Runner Up Arida, Bb. Pilipinas International Bea Rose Santiago, Bb. Pilipinas Tourism Cindy Miranda and Miss Supranational Mutya Datul on trainings and events for this year, but would rather employ the wait and see attitude.

There's still one more Binibini competing, Bea, we wish her the best.

Miss Universe 2013 Results: Gabriela Isler of Venezuela wins, Ariella Arida 3rd Runner Up

 Filipina pride reigned supreme in beauty pageants as Miss Universe Philippines Ariella Arida was hailed as Miss Universe 2013 3rd Runner Up.

Arida was called last in the Top 16 for winning the MU 2013 Online Voting, conquered the stage with her Yamamay swimsuit and her evening gown on the Top 10 and probably gave the best answer when she entered the Q&A portion in the Top 5.

 Her Q&A question was: What is the  solution to the lack of jobs among young people starting their careers around the world is education.

"For the people who have lack of jobs, I do believe that we people should invest in education and that is my primary advocacy because if we all know that everyone of us is educated and well aware of what we are doing, we can land into jobs and we could land our careers in the future. So education is a primary source and it's a ticket for a better future."

 
Winning the 7th Miss Universe Crown for Venezuela is Gabriela Isler, who had this for her winning answer to judge Steven Tyler's question "What is your biggest fear and how do you plan to overcome it?"
"For me while one may have a lot of fears but nonetheless this is nothing negative. I believe we should overcome all of our fears and this in turn would make us much stronger and mostly we can become stronger persons. As soon as we overcome our fears and we are sure of ourselves then we can face any challenge."
Arida makes it 4th in a row in the Top 5 for the Philippines, after Venus Raj, Shamcey Supsup and Janine Tugonon.

A new Miss Universe has been named. 

Venezuela's Gabriela Isler bested out 85 other ladies and was hailed as Miss Universe 2013 last November 9, 2013 from the Crocus City Hall in Moscow, Russia.

She would be having a year of a lifetime and will be based in the Trump Towers with Miss USA Erin Brady in New York.

Miss Asia Pacific World 2013 Results: India wins for the 2nd Year, Czarina Rosales is Miss Talent

Czarina Rosales does not go empty-handed as she was a part of the Top 15 semifinalists of the recently concluded Miss Asia Pacific World Super Talent Endeavor in Korea. She was also named as the competition's Miss Talent. India's  Srishti Rana duplicated the feat for India as she wins the title for the second year in a row.

While there is an insurmountable amount of expectations for Ara, Filipinos must be united in supporting the Philippine bet. Whatever happens, Filipinos should know that Ara has done it #ForthePhilippines.

For the Philippines, yes, this has been the mantra of 2013 Miss Universe Philippines Ariella Arida, who left yesterday on board to Moscow, Russia.

There is tremendous amount of pressure, but I should say this UP Chemistry graduate knows her pressure and will not succumb to it. She will be bringing to Crocus Hall all her preparations, be it on her tremendous  training with John Cuay to beauty queen preps with her fellow beauty queens from BBP Gold.

Christine Paula Love Bernasor is the official Miss Scuba Philippines earning the right to represent the country to the contest in Sabah, Malaysia.

It was the same contest that Janicel Lubina joined last year where she was adjudged as a part of the Top 5.

Holly Michelle Cassidy, 22 was crowned as Miss Universe New Zealand 2013 and will represent New Zealand to Miss Universe 2013.

Holly’s court includes the first runner-up Kylie Tan and the second runner-up Deborah Lambie. The top 5 were completed with Haley Robinson and Rachel Maree Millns.

Pageant Date: November 9, 2013 in Crocus Hall, Moscow, Russia

There is undeniably pressure at Ara Arida to win it, after Janine Tugonon has almost made the title in 2012 and A&Q and BPCI are leaving no stones unturned to help her prepare for the contest. Her latest pictures were a product of her intense training & effort and while her bashers have concentrated on her Q&A being to be non-conversionalist, there is a gut feel that Ara will be using her heart to translate words to people when she reaches that stage.

Miss Grand Philippines (competing in Miss Grand Int'l 2013) 

Bb. Pilipinas 2012 2nd Runner Up Ali Forbes gets the opportunity of a lifetime to represent the country to the first Miss Grand International 2013. With no less than the owner of Miss Grand International picking Ali in a casting call, She is seen to be one of the contenders for the first Miss Grand crown and I am sure John Dela Vega is going to help make it happen.

With the Miss Earth finals to happen here in Manila, PH, Angelee is preparing like she is competing in a different land, trying to make sure that she would not be bashed with an eventual placement if it happens. She would also use the "home crowd" as the opportunity to get her all confident until the Q&A. Q&A wise she is ready, we've seen her interviews in the past that she would answer questions thrown at her with ease (See previous post with Boy Abunda).

The Philippines had been in the Top 15 of Miss International for the past 5 years and has won the most number of MI titles since the days of Gemma Cruz Araneta back in 1964. This year, Bea who traces her roots from Masbate will try to win the MI title for the Philippines. Top 15 placement? Within reach. Miss International crown? Not far from being impossible.

Pageant Date: December 31, 2013 (for Miss Tourism International 13/14)

From one Gomez to another, Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism International Angeli Dione Gomez has a tough task at hand, especially following the success of reigning Miss Tourism International 12/13 Rizzini Alexis Gomez. The Cebuana is out to capture the hearts of the people behind MTI and hopefully, register a back-to-back win for the Philippines.

**Koreen Medina is likewise competing for Miss Intercontinental but haven't had the information as to when she will compete, there are other girls who will still be competing if we missed out on anyone don't hesitate to ring us a bell.

Miss Tourism World Philippines Aiyana Mikiewicz captured the Miss Tourism Asia Special Award in the recent Miss Tourism 2013 finals which was won by Venezuela. AJ also managed to enter the Top 20 of the said contest.
