Mary Jean Lastimosa: Ready to take on the Universe

2014 Miss Universe Philippines Mary Jean Lastimosa is the last 2014 queen of BPCI to compete this year but she's probably the most sought-after lady there is.

How can she not be? It took her 3 tries - a 2nd Runner Up finish in 2011 and a semifinalist finish in 2012 before catapulting herself to the top crown in 2014 and age has caught up with her at 27. However, the experience she gained from joining Binibini 3 times, being exposed to Miss ASEAN 2012 and training under Kagandahang Flores made her the most awaited Miss Universe 2014 delegate.

A 5-peat for Miss Universe is what we pray for, a crown is something we wish for. MJ leaves next Saturday, Januuary 3, 2015 to embark on a journey through pre-pageant events until January 25.

Ziphozakhe Zokufa: New Miss SA 2014 after Rolene's Miss World crowning

Ziphozakhe Zokufa will go to Miss Universe in Doral, Miami as Miss South Africa 

With Rolene Strauss being crowned as Miss World 2014, a new Miss South Africa is named in the person of Ziphozakhe Zokufa who was Rolene's First Princess in Miss South Africa 2014. Ziphozakhe takes over as South Africa's representative to Miss Universe and as the lady who will crown Miss South Africa 2015.

Miss Canada Ela Mino was adjudged as the Miss Global 2014 at the finals held in the Crown Princess Cruise in its final port in Mexico.

Our dear bet Miss Philippines Catherine Almirante scored the 2nd Runner Up position and a string of pageant's special awards, an achievement for the Miss Global Philippines Organization who is just in its first year.

Ferina Carpio for Miss ASEAN 2014

A familiar face who was a part of various beauty contests will be representing the Philippines to Miss ASEAN 2014 in Thailand from December 25-30, 2014.

Ferina Juny-Ann Carpio, 23 is one of the two representatives of the Philippines (the other being the 18 year old Guillen Diaz) to the pageant which the Philippines has not won since 2005 where Jhezarie Javier was the official representative.  This was also the same pageant where former Bb. Pilipinas World Marie-Ann Umali and reigning Miss Universe Philippines Mary Jean Lastimosa participated in 2012.

Bb. Pilipinas 2015: Nichole Manalo to do it one more time?

Reports and pageant threads as well as Gold's Gym's Angelo Mendez have said that Nichole Marie Manalo is back on their fold training (gym & core exercises) for a possible run at the 2015 Bb. Pilipinas.

Last year, she made waves of being the third Manalo sister who screened for Binibini, she had a fair share of yays and nays as some people think she was just able to enter the 2014 edition just because of her sisters Katherine and Bianca but managed to do it well to reach the Top 15.

Now if it is true she's going to actually join for 2015, what else have we not seen from her last year? Will this be better one more time?

Miss World 2014 Results

It was an expected finish after all.

Rolene Strauss of South Africa shall take home the blue crown and was named as Miss World 2014 in the finals held in London.

1st Princess was Edina Kulcsar of Hungary while 2nd Princess is Elizabeth Safrit of United States.

Rounding up the Top 5 was Carina Tyrell of England and Courtney Thorpe of Australia.

Remainder of the Top 11: Koyal Rana of India, Daniela Alvarez of Mexico, Idah Nguma of Kenya, Rafieya Husain of Guyana, Julia Gama of Brazil and People's Choice Nonthawan Thongleng of Thailand

Miss World Philippines Valerie Weigmann placed on the Top 25.

Bb. Pilipinas 2015: Will the air go Nancy Leonard's way?

There is no actual confirmation yet, but talks are ripe that Miss Philippines Air 2013 Nancy Leonard is grooming herself to be a part of Kagandahang Flores' contingent for the 2015 edition of Bb. Pilipinas.

Truth be told, Nancy was one of your blogger's favorites back when she was a part of the Miss Philippines Earth 2013 and just went behind the shadows of Angelee Delos Reyes and Kimverlyn Suiza and became Miss Philippines Earth Water. She made the best out of her reign until she got a call up to go a notch higher to become Miss Philippines Earth Air 2013 after Suiza resigned to join Bb. Pilipinas 2014. 

Now free from contract obligations after crowning Diane Querrer, Nancy can still give it one more shot with BPCI, now I am wondering, will the crossovering do the trick this time around like Venus Raj (to my latest memory?) If so, what crown does Nancy fit?

Bb. Pilipinas 2015: Hannah Ruth Sison, one last time?

Hannah Ruth Sison has made it out in the open on contemplating on giving it one last shot with Bb. Pilipinas in its 2015 edition, with her making it already to the Top 7 this year and the inspiration that her fellow Kagandahang Flores and reigning Miss Universe Philippines Mary Jean Lastimosa, the undaunted Hannah may seen to be filing her application before the deadline closes to be part of Bb. Pilipinas 2015.

The best part? Hannah has seen it - She has been with BPCI the rest of the year training with candidates, being around for sponsorship events and of course, being guided nonetheless by BPCI's top honcho Madam Stella Marquez Araneta.

The risk is there, take what happened to the likes of MJ in 2012, Pia in 2014 who were runners-up the previous year but failed to make it in the winners circle but as the saying goes, You Only Live Once, and third time maybe a charm, ask Maricar Balagtas (Miss Universe Philippines 2004) and Mary Jean Lastimosa if you can. ;)

Miss Tourism World 2014 Results

Miss Tourism Japan Tomomi Kondou waves to the crowd as the new Miss Tourism 2014 

The 2014 edition of Miss Tourism was held on the 10th of December in Venezuela, Beronika Martinez crowned Tomomi Kondou of Japan as Miss Tourism 2014. 

1st Runner Up - Ana Marquez Vera (Spain)
2nd Runner Up - Ashley Powell (Great Britain)
3rd Runner Up - Fernanda Rocha Lemes (Brazil)
4th Runner Up - Jelena Katarina (Croatia)

Continental Queens of Beauty

Kris and Yvethe returns to the Philippines

Finally complete: Miss Intercontinental 2014 2nd Runner Up Kris Janson and Miss Supranational Semifinalist Yvethe Santiago 

It is still a victorious event for BPCI who welcomed Miss Intercontinental 2nd Runner Up Kris Tiffany Janson and Miss Supranational Top 20 Yvethe Santiago who came back from their respective pageants in Germany and in Poland. Kris and Yvethe were flanked by their Binibini sisters Hannah Ruth Sison, Laura Lehmann, Parul Shah, Mary Jean Lastimosa and Bianca Guidotti.

Time to rest girls! Job well done, Enjoy the holidays and later next week, you would still be cheering and sending off the last lady, Miss Universe Philippines Mary Jean Lastimosa.


Europe was good, but nothing beats puto bumbong... our Yvethe and Kris enjoying the puto bumbong, something they miss from their Europe trip.

Bb. Pilipinas 2015: Gazini Ganados for your consideration

She was one of those ladies whom I considered for at least a "Princess" finish but did not happen. Gazini Christiana Ganados ended up in the semifinals of Miss World Philippines 2014, truth be told, there is a buzz that Gazini will try for Bb. Pilipinas, to which I am really hoping about.

Here is the list as released by Miss World of the Top 5 for all Challenges with the exception of Top 10 for Beauty with a Purpose. Our Valerie Weigmann has dropped out of the Top 5 of the Multimedia Challenge to think that the basis of the Multimedia Challenge is not the number of likes but the content. 

She's still in the running with Beauty with a Purpose, let's hope for better things until the end.

The "Other" Miss Tourism International in China

There are 2 variations of Miss Tourism International, the first I've mentioned over this blog was the franchise in Malaysia under Mutya ng Pilipinas where Glennifer Perido is the Official Representative. The second one is in Shenzhen, China where our representative is Christine Paula Love Bernasor who was 1st Runner Up in Miss Scuba International 2013 and was a part of the Top 10 of Miss Global Philippines. 

 Truth be told, I am hoping that Madam Stella Marquez Araneta gets this franchise - with the abundance of "Tourism" pageants, its a pity to waste the beauty of Katrina Dimaranan in 2012 and now Parul Shah in 2014.  ,

Mister Model International 2014: Philippines places 3rd Runner Up

Adam Davies: Mister Model International 2014 3rd Runner Up

The first delegate from the Misters of the Philippines 2014 edition scored highly after the conclusion of Mister Model International 2014 held in Dominican Republic.

Adam Rhys Davies, Mister Model International Philippines 2014 was adjudged as 3rd Runner Up in the competition.

Winners:
Mister Model International - Fernando De Noronha
1st Runner Up - Puerto Rico

2nd Runner Up - Saona Island
3rd Runner up - Philippines 
4th Runner up - India 


Adam also won the Sports Challenge and was part of the Top 4 in the National Costume competition.

Top Model of the World for Eva Psychee Patalinjug of Mutya ng Pilipinas

When she won the Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia Pacific International crown at the national level, there were various speculations on to where Eva Patalinjug would go, there was the Miss Supranational - India Edition or the revival of Miss Asia Pacific International in the early 2015 until the send-off where it was noted that Eva will compete.



Top Model of the World will be in January 2015 in Qingdao, China. Eva will be a stunner within this competition I believe.

I had the chance to follow Miss Global Philippines and its initial edition this year through the Miss Global Philippines website and the encouragement that MGP COO Stephany Stefanowitz gave me the opportunity to write about them within my blog. It's my pleasure to note that MGP is not just focused on Catherine Almirante, reigning Miss Global Philippines for her competition but there are three new international pageant links under Miss Global Philippines for you to watch out for to which they had sent 3 of their Tourism Ambassadress.

Mutya ng Pilipinas 2014 Queens Send-off

Mutya ng Pilipinas 2014 recently held their send-off for their two queens: Eva Patalinjug who will be representing the country to Top Model of the World in China in early January 2015 and Glennifer Perido who will be representing the country to Miss Tourism International in Malaysia on New Year's Eve.

The send-off was held at Sequioa Hotel in Timog, Quezon City where the 2014 queens where joined by their runner-up: Christine Cheeny Racel and the 2013 queens with Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia Pacific International 2013 Koreen Medina and reigning Miss Tourism International Angeli Dione Gomez.

Patalinjug will try to be the second Top Model of the World from the Philippines while Glennifer has the task of bringing home the third consecutive crown for the Philippines after Rizzini Gomez who did it in 2012 and Angeli last year.

India wins Miss Supranational 2014

It was another Asian victory as the new Miss Supranational was crowned with Asha Bhat of India in the finals which was held in Poland. Asha is the second Asian to win Miss Supranational following the successful reign of Philippines' Mutya Johanna Datul last year.

Miss Intercontinental 2014 Results

The 43rd Edition of Miss Intercontinental 2014 will happen on December 4, 2014 at the Maritim Hotel, Madeburg, Germany where Ekaterina Plekhova crowned her successor, Thailand's Patraporn Wang at the end of the event.


This year's Miss Intercontinental Top 3: Kris Janson of the Philippines (2nd Runner Up), Patraporn Wang (Miss Intercontinental 2014) and Jeslie Margal of Cuba (1st Runner Up)


It was of different first, the first time a Top 6 was introduced with Philippines and Thailand tying and PH winning Miss Intercontinental 2014 Asia and Oceania and the first contest that got a lot of people's eyebrows raised because the winner may not have nailed the question right than Cuba or PH, anyway, the event has been finished and Kris had to settle for third place.

 Our dearest Kris also won the Miss Photogenic Award, great start for BPCI's first Miss Intercontinental delegate.

Prediction Games is something I try to join for every National/International Pageant Competition and true enough, I join sometimes through the blogs I read, one of them is Norman's Blog which is owned by Norman Tinio, he hosted a Prediction Game for Miss World 2014 and posts at almost every day the updates for Miss Intercontinental, Miss World, Miss Supranational and Miss World. 

He had this dedicated post for Koyal, Valerie and Rolene seated in a table with reigning Miss World Megan Young.

I actually had them in my Top 3 (not revealing the order hihihi), prophetic photo as it may seem but we all wish it to happen don't we?

Miss World 2014: Valerie Weigmann makes it to the Top 10 of Beauty with a Purpose

Valerie Weigmann makes it to the Top 10 of the Beauty with a Purpose, a fast-track event for Miss World 2014 which focuses on the indigenous people of the Philippines. She has already started with a fund raising project called Musikaramay even before filing in her contestant sheet to be Miss World Philippines and winning the crown.


The winner for Beauty with a Purpose will be announced on the show date itself, December 14, 2014 so let us pray that Val will get through the Top 5 of BWAP or win the fast-track event. 

You can still support her through the Miss World Voting app. please do vote for your Top 3 until before the show.

Miss Tourism International 2014/15: Ready for a back-to-back-to-back with Glennifer Perido?

Just as we are busy channeling our thoughts for Miss Supranational Philippines Yvethe Marie Santiago, Miss Intercontinental Philippines Kris Tiffany Janson and Miss World Philippines Valerie Weigmann, there is another lady up to a daunting task of winning back the crown for the country for the third straight year.

Glennifer Perido, Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism International 2014 is up to the task of winning the crown after her predecessors Rizzini Alexis Gomez and Angeli Dionne Gomez. Pressure as it may seem, I know Glennifer does not take it as a toll on her as she will give her best performance in Malaysia.

A back-to-back-to-back is something we pray for, Glennifer has been under our watch way back her Bb. Pilipinas 2011 and her Miss Philippines Earth 2012 days where we were at giddy to see her almost making it, now a title holder with a chance for an international representation, Glennifer will play her cards well enough to be at her best during the Finals Night. Whatever the results may be on the New Year's Eve competition, she can assure herself that she did her best to make her country proud!

Andrea Neu: From Miss International 2013 Semifinalist to Miss Earth Air 2014 

Andrea Neu is no stranger to beauty pageants, in fact she was already part of Miss International 2013 Top 15 and when she won Miss Earth United States early this year, pageant fans had her in the book for a greater place in Miss Earth 2014. Indeed, it was a greater placement: a lady who would have won Miss Earth 2014.

There is no love loss for Andrea seeing that Katia Wagner, Punika Kulsoontornrut (before getting dethroned because of joining Miss International 2014) and Catharina Choi all had a fair share of activities aside from the reigning winner Alyz Henrich back in 2013 so for your blogger, Andrea, Maira and Anastasia, Elemental queens of Miss Earth 2014 Jamie Herrell maybe as visible to your eye as the reigning queen.
