Police joins Misters of the Philippines


A police officer of the Philippine National Police (PNP) aims to become a role model to other cops by joining Misters of the Philippines 2014 pageant.

PO2 Mariano Perez Flormata Jr., 29, of the Aviation Security Group is backed up by the PNP for he serves as an example to all police officers who "want to be fit and healthy while protecting our community from different crimes."

Using the name Neil Perez, he will compete along with 26 other contestants at the Misters of the Philippines 2014 pageant which will be held on September 7 at the Grand Theatre of University of Makati. The 5-foot-11-inch cop will represent the city of Manila.


"This is the first time I would join this kind of contest. I hope I would not fail the PNP which I somehow represent," he said.

"Misters of the Philippines pageant can bring additional opportunities for me in terms of exposure which will eventually help me financially. Through this pageant, I can also show to other people that I can do more aside from being a police officer," he added.

The PNP said keeping the "finest physical and mental fitness" of its personnel is important in their duties as a police, but also so they are "always ready to protect and defend their family and themselves."

Facebook Page was created to support Perez.

Misters of the Philippines is a male pageant selecting representatives to Mr. International, Mr. Tourism International, Mr. Global and Mr. Model International. It saw the likes of Gil Wagas, Erwin Trinidad and Wilfred Placencia who was successful last year.
