Bb. Pilipinas 1999 saw a lot of twists, the dethronement of Janelle Bautista (Original Winner of Bb. Pilipinas Universe) making way for Miriam Quiambao (Bb. Pilipinas World turned Bb. Pilipinas Universe), Lalaine Edson (Bb. Pilipinas International turned Bb. Pilipinas World) and Georgina Ann Sandico, who was a part of the semifinalists of the 1999 competition became Bb. Pilipinas International.

Miriam Quiambao went on to be the most successful as she became Miss Universe 1st Runner Up, behind Mpule Kwelagobe of Botswana.
